Our inventory of parts starts with acquiring late model automobiles that have been involved in a collision. We obtain our automobiles from insurance companies. We do not purchase "junk" automobiles. All the automobiles we receive were running at the time they were put out of service. Just think about it for a minute. If you were on your way to the grocery store or the mall and someone ran a light and hit your automobile in the side or rear, you would have to say the engine, along with many other parts in your car are still good. You were driving it. I'm sure you wish you still had that car. After all, you did take good care of it. Southwest Auto Company might end up with your automobile if your insurance company decides it is not economically feasible to repair it. Some lucky person will end up with one of the parts from your automobile. We keep our inventory of used auto parts fresh. Several times a month we purchase in bulk at a central location, utilized by insurance companies, so we are not spending all our time purchasing. Instead, we prefer to stay close to the telephone in case you call. To supplement our supply of quality use auto parts, we have arrangements with several insurance companies to receive all their late model automobiles that have been involved in a collision. After receiving an automobile, it enters a systematic procedure in which all the parts on the vehicle are identified, graded and then the vehicle is sent to our inside facility for disassembly. All parts removed are tagged for inventory and moved to inside storage. All parts. removed or not, are entered into our computer system, providing you with an accurate answer to your request. You can rest assured if, in the rare instance, we don't have your part in stock it's not because we are too lazy to check. We don't have to leave the telephone to supply you with all the information about the part you require. The only time we will ask you to hold is if we want to verify the part condition, color or any other special concern you may have. We indicated above that we may not have the part you are asking for. Let's face it, it would require a warehouse the size of Texas to hold every part for every car. However, don't get discouraged, the good news is we have made special arrangements for you. We have connected our computer system directly to other auto part suppliers. When we search our computer for your part, we can directly access the inventory of suppliers in the Chicago area, Southern Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky. Wait, we aren't finished. If your part has not been found after all that, we proceed to search all auto parts suppliers in the continental United States including Hawaii. All participating companies, including Southwest Auto Company, upload our inventories to a central computer in Omaha, Nebraska. This is a precautionary measure we take in order to have a backup of our inventory in a different location. The upside to this backup procedure is the ability to search one database of parts. Our chances of finding the right part for you is pretty good. We have fullfilled some pretty outrageous requests.
